Soil/Biochar - NRCS-USDA-EQIP Program - 336 Biochar Program
The second round of funding application deadline is March 15th.
Advice on Applying for 336 Program
We recommend the farmers to do a 1 to 2 ton application rate. That would mean the total approved acres for biochar (ECOCHAR) application, and comparable acres without application. This will allow side-by-side comparison.
Ecochar will give you a permanent char base and will increase the nutrient value of your forages, while possibly giving you a higher yield.
Once you have idea of what you want to do, where you want to apply 100% ECOCHAR or want to combine the ECOCHAR with Compost, contact your local District Conservation office, either by phone or e-mail to arrange a visit.
Let them know that you want to apply for the 336 EQIP funding. The DC person will probably come to your farm, or meet with you in their office, and complete the application at the time of your meeting or shortly afterwards.
These directions are highly recommended as if you first apply without a meeting, then the application needs to be changed, there is a lot of paperwork to make that change. It is better to arrange a meeting with the local DC and agree on the application.
